Since you can get these fairly cheaply $3.99 a bag (farm-raised & less
gritty), here's a nice appetizer recipe, my own, and great for dipping
crusty bread into. Lots of calories, don't even count. It's fast and easy.

Saute 2-3 cloves chopped garlic in 2 tbs. butter or olive oil
Add fresh chopped oregano or basil or both
1/2 C. to 3/4 C. white wine
Simmer down
Throw in mussels after removing beards.
Pour 1 C. of half & half or cream over mussels
Cook until mussels open

Farm-raised mussels are more tender and aren't full of dirt, but there is
some controversy about farm-raised fish and such containing too many land
washed off chemicals, but I guess it can't be any worse than what is
dumped/leached into natural bodies of water these days.
