GF just came up with one. I had almost forgotten about it. This is
AFAIK an old southern favorite, definitely not high-class, but damn good
just the same. Don't know what it's called, but here's the simple quick
version:

8oz. Creamed Corn
grated cheese (amount and type up to you, I prefer about a 1/2 cup sharp
cheddar)
1/2 lb. Ground beef (preferably Round)
sliced/diced onions and garlic
cornbread batter (your choice here, if you know a good recipe pass it on,
I use Jiffy, cause I've never been good with cornmeal)

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix up cornbread batter as usual. Brown ground
beef. In a skillet or shallow (1 and 1/2 inch) baking pan (I prefer the
old black iron skillet of wife-hits-drunk-hubby-over-head-with-it fame)
pour about 1/2 inch of the batter. Spoon the ground beef over this.
Add the Cream corn to the remaining batter, slowly, since depending on
how you mix the batter you may need less. sautee the onions, etc. and
put them over the Ground beef. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over this,
leaving about a 1/4 inch between the cheese and the side of the pan.
Pour (carefully) the remaining cornbread batter over all. Bake for
about 20 minutes or until brown around the edges of the pan.

this is obviously some strange usage of the word "safe" that I wasn't
   previously aware of.
